Writing Requirements

写作要求

You can choose one of the topics in page 3 to write an essay according to your grade and level of English competency. Participants from Junior High Schools to the Chinese Committee may write it in Chinese. Other participants, including all Senior High school participants and those from Junior High schools who wish to participate in the English Committee, should write the essays in English.

The format of your essay should be as follows:

Typeface: 12-pt Times New Roman

Spacing: Use a 1.5 times-spaced paragraph with a 2-character indentation on the beginning of each paragraph;

Use only one space after each period at all times.

The structure of your essay should be as follows:

1. Introduce the topic you choose to write;

2. Analyze the topic and find due solutions to it;

3. Make a conclusion.

Please state your name, grade, school, email address and the topic you choose at the first page of your essay.

根据参赛学生就读年级不同、自我英语水平评价不同，我们给出以下三个不同层次的题目，可选取以下任意一个话题根据提示写一篇陈述论文。初中组参加中文组委会的参赛者请用中文写作，初中组参加英文委员会和高中组所有参赛者请用英文写作。

文章格式如下，请严格遵守：

字体：小四 Times New Roman

间隔：首行缩进 2 字符；1.5 倍行距；每个标点仅空一格。

文章结构可以基本如下：

1、话题引入，介绍所选话题背景；

2、分析问题找到解决方式；

3、总结全文，预测该问题发展趋势。

请在文章首页注明你的姓名、年级、学校、邮箱地址和选取话题。

A) Wastewater Management (over 300 words) 废水资源管理

 “Wastewater should be recognized as a valuable resource”, UN says on World Water Day (2017/3/22) “废水应被视为一种宝贵的资源”联合国在世界水日（2017/3/22）如是说。

1. Describe your experience of creative wastewater recycling and reuse methods. 描述你身边废水回收或重利用的生活小智慧。

2. Why is wastewater treated as a valuable resource? 为什么废水被认为是一种宝贵的资源？

3. What methods do you think the government should take to manage the wastewater? 你认为政府应如何进行废水资源管理？

B) Issues Regarding Digital Economy (over 400 words) 关注数字经济

1. Describe your experience from any one aspect of your life that has been involved in the rapid development of digital economy, including but not limited to the mobile payment, bicycle-sharing and digital health care service. 任意选取数字经济曾影响你生活的某个方面，如移动支付、共享单车、数字化医疗等，描述你的生活体验。

2. What are the advantages of these new lifestyles compared with traditional ones? And what are the problems you identified in their development? 这些新的生活模式与以往传统生活相比有哪些优势？目前又存在哪些发展的问题？

3. How do you propose to solve such issues you mentioned in the above question? 你建议如何解决前一题中你提到的问题？

C) Issues Regarding Terrorism (over 500 words) 探讨恐怖主义

1. Briefly introduce the history and current situation of terrorism after the 1990s, which is featured by religious terrorism and radical extremism. 简要描述自上世纪90年代至今恐怖主义（以宗教恐怖主义和极端主义为特点）的历史发展和现状。

2. What are the problems derived from terrorism? Choose one problem you are mostly concerned with and describe it briefly. 恐怖主义衍生的问题有哪些？请选择其中的一个你最关心的问题并简要描述。

(Hint: refugee problems; public medical service and health; child soldier issues; human rights; rising populism and so on 提示：难民问题; 公共医疗与健康; 儿童武装; 人权; 民粹思潮等。)

3. Explore possible solutions to the problem you mentioned above. 探讨前面题目中你所选问题的解决方案。
